Transitions...
Times... they are a'changing and the only constant is change. Definite words to live by and also take with a grain of salt. A lot has been going on in the life of this old chicky and it's all been good from my twisted perspective.
Work Life
On the work side of things... This week is my last week with my current company. I've been working there since I was a fresh college undergrad. I admit I was a bit of a naive idealist when I first graduated; especially compared to now. I'm really excited about my new adventure! This is definitely the direction I've been wanting my career to take: global company, travel, deal with different companies, opportunity to grow, etc. I will miss my dear, fellow team mates as I leave them to embark on my new career path, but I'm sure (& hope) that we'll stay in contact in the coming years :-)
Honestly, the team has been the main factor in keeping me at my current job for as long as I was there. With the latest internal changes, I've been transformed from a person who enjoyed going to work each day with a smile on my face... to a person who dreaded showing up to work, who had stressed out dreams, and who bitched about work to family and friends. In this day and age, you have to learn to look out for yourself! In the past, if someone went to work for a company... it was basically for life because the company would take care of that person. Today... all that seems to matter is the bottom line, productivity hours, billable time, yadda fuckin yadda. People need to learn to manage their careers instead of being caught unaware and finding themselves in the unemployment line. Movin' on up!
Personal Life
Love... ain't it grand! Yesterday marked the 6 month anniversary of dating Mr. Beau. Rather than being a passing day that I had to remind him of... he wished me a happy 6-mo a bit after midnight as we were riding Betty & Rusty to my place after an outdoor movie. He then told me that I had to be ready, dressed up & ready to go that night (with a to-go bag) around 6ish. Wowza Zowza! He ended up taking me to a lovely surprise dinner at the Mona Lisa and followed up with a lovefest at the Grove. I'll spare the deets ;-) After all was said & done... I officially dropped the L-word... verbally. HUGE step :-) In addition to the dinner & hotel, he also gave me certificate for paragliding (I gave him one for his b-day last weekend, but he was unable to go due to weather conditions. Now we shall glide the skies together! I think I just shit my pants :-S)
Friendship... dunno. Elle has moved on and she'll be getting all hitched up in a couple of months. I need to get on the ball & start planning parties... and I WILL... I swear! I miss that damn Elle, but I'm very happy for her and will give her the bestest damn parties ever (especially after I know who to invite!) Come on girl, send me the damn guest list :-)
Another chicky who played a big part in my life, may be parting ways from me. The dear Miss Katy Kat. Last Friday/Saturday (as the Beau & I were in a Hailey hotel room), my phone went off at about 4a. I sleepily pressed the mute so I could get back to sleep. I listened to the message a day later and it was Katy Kat. She basically told me that she didn't think I had been there for her in the past 2 months (after her relationship fell apart) and she thought I would have been a better friend, etc. etc. I was shocked! After almost 2 years of friendship where I was there for her (giving her rides, meeting for drinks, taking care of her place when she went out of town, etc), I get evaluated as being a bad friend because I'd gotten busy in the past 2 months! I was trying to better myself (get new job), my house (yardwork), my physical shape, etc. because NOBODY ELSE was gonna do it for me! I replied to her vm with an email because I was at a total loss for words & because I was fuming! She replied that either I was busy or I wasn't there because I didn't care. Chatted today & she mentioned something about clearing things up before she moved on. Moved on, as in... I don't know! We'll see.
Family The bro walked the graduation line AND got a promotion. FINALLY! The grandmas are kicking butt and my dad will be visiting next month. Should be interesting, considering I haven't seen the man for a coupla years.
Blue continues to kick total ass! He's an official backpacker, but still fails to go swimming in the water! How do you train a dog to swim?!?!?!
